EAM S. Jaishankar discussed West Asia tensions with UAE Deputy PM Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing diplomacy’s role in de-escalation.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday held a telephonic conversation with United Arab Emirates Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It was confirmed by EAM S. Jaishankar on social media platform X.
This comes amid the escalating conflict in the West Asia region due to violent engagement of Iran and Israel.
Sharing details about the call, Jaishankar said the two leaders discussed the recent developments in the West Asia and the role of diplomacy in de-escalating the tensions.

“Had a telecon with DPM & FM @ABZayed of UAE on the current situation in West Asia and the role of diplomacy. Agreed to remain in touch,” the EAM tweeted.
The foreign minister further said that both the sides have agreed to remain in touch as situation develops.
Iran-Israel Conflict Enters Day 4
Meanwhile, the Iran-Israel conflict entered its fourth day on Monday with an Iranian ballistic missile reportedly hitting the Haifa refinery in Israel in a strong response to Tel Aviv’s strikes on Iranian energy and nuclear sites.
Several loud explosions were heard near the Fordow nuclear site in Iran which triggered earthquakes. The quake near the nuclear facility was measured at 2.5 on the Richter scale.
According to Iran’s health ministry, Israeli strikes have killed 224 people since the beginning of the conflict on June 13.
The region is bracing for a protracted conflict following Israel’s surprise bombardment of Iranian nuclear and military sites on Friday, which resulted in the deaths of several top generals and nuclear scientists. With neither side showing any signs of stepping back , the situation remains volatile.
Further, US President Donald Trump has expressed full support for Israel’s actions while warning Iran that it can avoid further destruction only by agreeing to a new nuclear deal.
