A shocking incident at Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School in Srinagar has triggered public outrage after a Class 3 student was allegedly beaten up by two teachers as punishment. According to a report in The Kashmir Age, the young girl, a student in the 3‑C class, was reportedly “beaten to a pulp” by her teachers on Tuesday, said her family.

Relatives say the little girl was left unconscious and vomiting, with no immediate medical attention from the school. They described rushing her to a hospital for treatment after discovering what had happened.

A widely circulated video showing her in a hospital bed added fuel to their accusations, prompting demands of stern action against the teachers. “Teachers must be held accountable for beating a minor child mercilessly,” a family member told Kashmir Age.

In an internal statement reported by India Today, the school administration denied any wrongdoing, asserting that the girl complained of a headache and was taken to the health room where she was given medication. They claim her parents were informed at around 2 pm, and that CCTV footage would corroborate this version.

The administration further stated that upon the father’s arrival at 2:35 pm, he became “agitated” without first verifying the care his daughter received.

The severity of the incident prompted the Jammu & Kashmir Education Department to initiate a formal probe. Education Minister Sakina Itoo confirmed that the Director of School Education in Kashmir has been tasked with investigating whether corporal punishment took place, and assured that any guilty parties would face disciplinary action.

Local parents and community leaders have rallied behind the student’s family, calling for an impartial inquiry and accountability. “This is a serious matter,” they stressed, demanding a transparent investigation and decisive action against the teachers involved.
