An Air India flight crashed near the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and assured assistance to state, minutes after an Air India flight AI-171 bound for London with 242 passengers on board crashed shortly after takeoff near Ahmedabad airport.
Additionally, Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu is also on his way to Ahmedabad in wake of the plane crash. Reacting to the incident, he said that he is shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad.
“We are on highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action,” he said.
Gujarat CM Expresses Grief
Expressing grief over the incident, CM Patel said, “I am saddened by the accident of Air India passenger plane breaking down in Ahmedabad. Immediate rescue and relief operations in the accident as well as immediate treatment to the injured passengers. Officials have been instructed to make arrangements for this on a war footing.”
He further informed that instructions have been given to arrange a green corridor to carry injured passengers for treatment to hospitals. “Instructions have also been given to ensure all treatment arrangements on priority,” he added.
He further informed that he has also talked to the Home Minister and the central government has assured full support in the rescue operations.
