‘Pained Beyond Words’: Amit Shah, Rajnath Extend Condolences Over Air India Crash

In a tragic incident that has shaken the nation, at least 133 people lost their lives when an Air India flight crashed shortly after takeoff near the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon. The ill-fated flight, bound for London, was carrying 232 passengers and 10 crew members when it went down at approximately 1:17 PM.

Several leaders from across the political spectrum took to X to express deep anguish over the tragic crash.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote: “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote: “Pained beyond words by the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. Disaster response forces have been quickly rushed to the crash site. Spoke with the Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Home Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, and Commissioner of Police Ahmedabad to assess the situation.”

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi wrote: “The Ahmedabad Air India crash is heartbreaking. The pain and anxiety the families of the passengers and crew must be feeling is unimaginable. My thoughts are with each one of them in this incredibly difficult moment.”

“Urgent rescue and relief efforts by the administration are critical – every life matters, every second counts. Congress workers must do everything they can to help on the ground,” Gandhi added.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also took to X and expressed: “Deeply anguished by the news of tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the passengers and the crew.”

Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu wrote: “We are on highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action. Rescue teams have been mobilised, and all efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site.”

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, wrote: “Deeply shocked to hear about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad which has claimed several precious lives. I offer heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May God give them strength to bear their irreparable loss. Praying for speedy recovery of those injured.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, speaking at an event, said: “A tragic accident has occurred in Ahmedabad. A plane has crashed. It was on its way to London. A lot of passengers have lost their lives. I pray for the safety of the passengers. My condolences to the bereaved families.”

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw wrote: “Deeply saddened by the tragic flight crash in Ahmedabad. Praying for the safety of all passengers and crew onboard. Thoughts are with families affected.”

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar remarked, “It is very shocking news. Air India was doing very well. The aviation industry was working in a systematic way nowadays. But to hear this in India, we are all surprised. May God give hope… We pray to God that all of them are safe.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said: “I pay my tribute and condolences to those who passed away. The government should immediately help the families of those who have passed away, and also the people of the area where the plane crashed… Congress leaders will also help people manage this incident. This accident should be investigated.”

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said, ” I hope the government will conduct a proper investigation and fix responsibility.”
