An Air India flight crashed near the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday.
A devastating aviation tragedy unfolded on Thursday afternoon as Air India flight AI171, en route to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was carrying 242 people, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian national.

Air India confirmed the accident, stating that injured passengers are being transported to nearby hospitals. The airline is cooperating fully with investigators, while rescue and relief operations remain underway.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed that an Operational Control Room has been activated in Ahmedabad. In a statement, the AAI said, “In light of the recent incident involving Air India Flight AI171, an Operational Control Room has been activated in Ahmedabad to oversee and coordinate all necessary response measures.”

Maharashtra State Government’s Helpline
The Maharashtra State Government’s Emergency Operations Centre in Mumbai activated a dedicated Help Desk to assist citizens seeking information about passengers. The appeal was made by Satishkumar Khadke, Director of the Disaster Management Division, urging concerned individuals and relatives to reach out for support.
