Air India plane crash: New video of survivor surfaces (CNN-News18)
A new video has surfaced showing the lone survivor of the Air India-171 plane crash, Viswashkumar Ramesh, walking out from the crash site in Ahmedabad.
He is seen in a white t-shirt and holding his phone in his left hand. Thick plumes of smoke rose from the crash site behind him as he made his way out of the premises of the medical college hostel.
As he walks off the campus, he is seen being rushed by the screaming locals to a hospital.
The previous video clips of him had surfaced on the same day of the crash, showing him walking out alive miraculously from the site, where everyone was feared dead moments after the crash.
In that video, he was seen stumbling out with scratches, screaming in Gujarati, “Plane fatyo che” (the plane has exploded).

241 out of the 242 on board the ill-fated AI-171 aircraft died after the plane crashed shortly after taking off for London on June 12. Ramesh, who was seated in 11A seat of the flight — next to the emergency exit — managed to jump off the aircraft just in time to save his life.
Speaking to the media from the hospital bed, he said that he was a British national of Indian origin and had visited India to meet his family. He was travelling back with his brother.
“At first, I thought I was dead. Later, I realised I was still alive and saw an opening in the fuselage near my seat. I managed to unbuckle myself. I used my leg to push through that opening and crawled out,” he said.
“There were bodies all around me, and there were pieces of the plane all around me. Someone grabbed hold of me and put me in an ambulance,” Ramesh told News18 earlier.
He suffered “impact injuries” to his chest, eyes, and feet.
The authorities have recovered both black boxes from the crash site, and efforts to decode the data are underway. The black box data report will ascertain what problem the flight encountered midair — seconds after takeoff — that the pilot gave a “mayday” call to the ATC and crashed moments later.
