SOG and Hathras Police apprehended accused in the murder of Kalpita Sharma, after an encounter. Kalpita, daughter of Hathras DM’s driver, was shot dead on Saturday.

In a joint operation by the SOG and Hathras Police, the accused in the murder of Kalpita Sharma, daughter of Hathras District Magistrate’s driver Rakesh Kumar Sharma, was apprehended after an encounter.
The accused, Naveen, was injured by police gunfire during the encounter and was admitted to the district hospital. The police also recovered a country-made pistol and live cartridges from the accused’s possession.
The encounter between SOG and Hathras Police took place in the Kotwali Hathras Gate area.
Kalpita was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants on June 14, 2025, while returning home from a local market with her mother near the Sadar Tehsil area here on Saturday, police said.
The victim’s father works as a driver for the Hathras district magistrate, and the family lives in the Sardar Tehsil complex, they said.
According to police, the woman and her mother were returning from a local market on a scooter when the incident occurred in the evening. The assailants stopped them and shot Kalpita before fleeing from the scene.
Passersby quickly took her to the district hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors, according to the police.
