Former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani’s DNA was matched with his remains found at the crash site, three days after the deadly Air India crash in Ahmedabad, the state’s Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi confirmed on Sunday.
The confirmation was made in the DNA report that came at 11.10 am.
His body was handed over to his family and his last rites will be held in Rajkot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met his family members during his visit to the state, a day after the crash took place.
Rupani was among the 241 on board the ill-fated Air India 171 on Thursday afternoon, which crashed shortly after taking off for London. A British national was the lone survivor in the incident. The government has said that the black box has been recovered, and the decoding of the data is underway to ascertain the cause of the incident.
The aircraft crashed just seconds after takeoff, hitting a building inside the BJ Medical College campus in Meghaninagar, a little over a kilometre from the airport runway. The impact caused a fireball that badly damaged the hostel building and killed several people on the ground, including some MBBS students.
