Chaos unfolded at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Thursday after an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed just outside the city’s airport shortly after take-off. The flight was bound for London Gatwick and was carrying 242 passengers, including 10 crew members.

Doctors at the hospital described the aftermath as “unlike anything they had ever seen,” with a constant flow of critically injured passengers arriving in the emergency wards. Many were rushed in with serious burns, fractures, and other life-threatening injuries.

“It is a mass casualty situation. We are doing all we can,” a hospital official said.

Families Wait In Fear

As news of the crash spread, dozens of family members rushed to the hospital in search of loved ones. Heartbreaking scenes played out outside the emergency ward, where anxious relatives waited for updates.

“My sister was going to London. She had her flight around 1.10 pm, but the flight crashed,” said one woman waiting outside the civil hospital.

Another man, speaking to news agency ANI, expressed his desperation:

“My sister and brother-in-law are both inside, but they are not letting us go in…They were going to London…My niece is in London, and they were going to see her. She called me up from London to say that her parents were on the flight, and then I rushed here.”

Emotional Scenes Outside Hospital

Footage shared on social media shows grieving and panicked families, some pleading with authorities to be allowed inside.

Shortly after the crash, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel rushed to Asarwa Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad, where victims of the Air India tragedy were being treated.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, CM Patel assured full support for ongoing rescue and relief efforts. He directed officials to create a green corridor to speed up the transfer of injured passengers to hospitals and instructed medical teams to provide priority treatment to all those affected.
